Our Story

We meet at Bishopbriggs Academy on a Thursday night - Juniors 6.30pm to 8.30pm, and Senior Club 7.00pm-9.45pm from September until March.

Fees for season 2024/25 were decided at the AGM, and they are £80 for adult members and £40 for any adult member in full time education.

The club has historically had a policy of membership by invitation to try to keep the standard of players as high as possible and in the past it was an adult only club with only juniors of a similar standard to the adults joining. We still run a policy for players interested in joining where they are invited to attend as visitors for 4 weeks to allow them, and the club, to assess their suitability to the standard of play.

However, in a bid to stimulate new blood, Hotspur have started a new Junior Club ( 8 years to 18 years) in the hope they develop and move into the club’s senior ranks. We also had hoped to employ a Head Coach for the Junior Section but this funding application was unsuccessful. Please note that new Junior members require to supply their own equipment - racquet, shoes etc. and the session fee is currently £3 per session, with this capped at £50 for the season.

We have always strived, and still strive, to achieve a high standard and were in the top division of the Strathclyde Leagues (Mixed and Gents) for many years and in the past attracted several international players. It should be noted however, that currently, the Strathclyde Leagues are not functioning.

We wish to continue with the high standards but now recognise that to survive we must again try to encourage junior players to join the new junior club aimed at 8-18 year olds.

It is hoped that by encouraging junior players they will improve and progress into the adult club and continue the high standard of the club for the foreseeable future.
